Immunohistochemical techniques are used to determine the location of proteins. In this example a calcium dependent isoform of PKC (green) is shown to be present at the calyx of Held.  In these images the red fluorescence shows vGlut1, which is used to identify calyces of Held, which surround the cell boldies of neurons in the MNTB region (spheres that lacking fluoresence).
